LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly done cosmetic procedures in the U.S. It beams highly concentrated light into Hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorbs the light. That destroys the hair.

Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour.

If you’re not happy with shaving, tweezing, or waxing to remove unwanted hair, Laser hair removal may be an option worth considering. Lasers can selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding Skin undamaged. Most patients have permanent Hair loss after an average of three to seven sessions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTENSE PULSED LIGHT AND DIODE LASER?

IPL technology requires more sessions to obtain lasting results. Diode laser, however, works effectively with less patient discomfort while enabling providers to treat more skin and hair types than traditional IPL. After working with most of the leading laser hair removal machines in the industry we have learned the Diode Laser Machine shows the best results.

DIODE LASER

Diode laser projects light within the visible to the infrared range (~810 nm) in order to target specific pigment cells. It works on both light and dark skin. However, it is more effective for darker, terminal hair than lighter, finer hair.

Compared to other lasers,  its wavelength offers the deepest penetration and superior melanin absorption. These unique characteristics make the diode laser the most suitable technology for laser hair reduction, allowing safe and effective treatment of all skin and hair types, for all body areas.

Diode laser hair removal is so popular because of its speed and efficacy. A single session rarely takes as long as an hour anymore. In fact, it is an office-hour procedure, which means that is quick and ensures a speedy recovery. This procedure has been proven to achieve permanent hair reduction in 90% of the cases. It ensures a stable reduction, in hair regrowth after a treatment regime.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

The number of treatment sessions and the gap between them also depends on multiple factors like:

– Skin Type
– Hair Color
– Hair Coarseness
– The Depth of Hair Follicle
– Overall Hair Growth Density
– Treatment Area
– Hormone Levels

In general, the majority of the individuals will need at least 4-6 sessions with a diode laser. The duration between the 2 sessions will be around 6-10 weeks apart. This will help achieve 70-90% hair reduction.

With subsequent sessions, you will witness fewer and fewer hair cropping back until you start experiencing smooth, hairless skin all year round. Even in cases where few hairs keep growing back, they are barely noticeable.

Because hair grows in cycles, it is necessary to undergo several treatments to totally remove the hair.

The 3 distinct stages of growth are anagen or active, catagen or regression and telogen or resting. During the active phase, the hair is actively growing, and new hair follicles are constantly being added. During the catagen phase, hair follicles are dying and growth has slowed. During the telogen phase, the hair has reached its peak and is no longer growing.

Hairs in the leg, bikini area and underarms are in the active phase for about 4-6 weeks, at which point they enter the mature phase. Since not all hairs will be in the same phase at the same time, laser treatments must be spread out over a period of six weeks or more.

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Clients should avoid plucking, waxing, or electrolysis for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. The skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed on the day of the appointment, removing any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics, or self-tanning products before treatment. Avoid skin care products with irritants such as Glycolic Acid or Retin-A on the treatment area for about a week. Do not expose the intended treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light prior to or immediately after treatment.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

A cool compress or aloe vera may be applied for comfort following your treatment. Clients can resume daily activities immediately after treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve within a few hours. Permanent side effects are rare, and may include redness, swelling, blistering, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, and purpura (a laser bruise) in the treated area. These usually do not last more than a few days. Prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30+). In the first few days after treatment, do not scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers.
